WELCOME TO ROSARY AOTEAROA
October, the month of the Rosary, is fast approaching. “Rosary Aotearoa” invites you, as the People of God, to come together on Sunday 6th October this year to pray for ourselves, our Church and our nation. Wouldn’t it be great if, at 3 pm that day, representatives of every Catholic community around Aotearoa, from Cape Reinga to Stewart Island and the Chathams – our parishes, our schools, our families – gathered together to pray through Mary our Mother for all our needs?
We invite each parish to appoint a coordinator to be the contact person for your parish – let us know who you are and what your parish will be doing that day so that we can share this with others.

My Dear Friends
We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to all Area Coordinators for organising Rosary Aotearoa in your respective community.
God truly works mysteriously. We really don’t know the response of the people in this invitation. Through the encouragement of Bishop Patrick Dunn, Monsignor Bernard Kiely, and Fr Mark Field and the technical skills of Ferd Lomibao and his family, Clemens Mercado and Millie Collado – we throw the net into the deep. Rosary Aotearoa has been successful because you responded kindheartedly to the call to gather your people in your community to pray the Holy Rosary as One Nation, One Mind, One Heart, One Spirit.
We would like to encourage you to please continue praying the Holy Rosary for this month of October. We will continue to send updates for future events.
Mary Mother God and Mother of the Church, pray for us!
God bless you all.
PS. Please see the attachments. Please tag your pictures in our facebook – Rosary Aotearoa or send an email.

On Sunday 29 th April, Pope Francis invited the faithful to join him in praying the rosary for peace throughout the world, and many responded to his call. Our Holy Father extends this invitation to us anew, each day – let us pray for peace.
In our prayer, let us be guided by the writings of Pope Francis:
- In the spirit of Lumen Fidei: The Light of Faith, let us pray for our Church, our Holy Father and the shepherds of the Church (Bishops, Priests, Religious and Vocations)
- In the spirit of Amoris Laetitia: The joy of love, let us pray for families and marriage
- In the spirit of Laudato Si: On care for our common home, let us pray for the earth and its people
- In the spirit of Gaudete et Exsultate: the Call to Holiness, let us pray for the Culture of Life
- In the spirit of Misericordiae Vultus: the Face of Mercy, let us pray for our leaders

The Coast to Coast Rosary is a great initiative that promises to unite Catholics in prayer around the world.
So many of our parishes are a ‘Community of communities’ and Rosary Aotearoa is a wonderful opportunity to get the different groups, that call a particular parish home, together for a particular prayer event.

When I was a child my late grandmother told me a story during the Japanese occupation in the Philippines in the mid 1940s on how she was nearly abducted by a group of more or less 5 Japanese soldiers. She was saved that day from harm and the possibility of death.
